Description
In this recording, part of a larger video memoir project, lifetime activist and educator Suzanne Ross speaks about the timeliness of creating her memoirs post-2023. From Suzanne: "There’s always so much more to do, and now PALESTINE, especially since October 7 (2023), and I being a Jewish survivor of the Nazi Holocaust. How can I record my memoirs, when 22,000 Palestinians (and still counting) have been massacred in Gaza, almost half of them children, many of whose faces I see on the internet every day, and whose faces then haunt me for hours and days. As the Palestinians say, “We stand on the shoulders of the Palestinian children." So even more than the usual departure from the memoirs I should be completing, with Palestine/Gaza the draw to that is so powerful, and it is truly so much part of my story, given that I am Jewish and was when the State of Israel was established in 1948, drawn into Zionism which I had to painstakingly undo over decades of my subsequent life."
