Administrative History

The Greater New York Centennial Commission was founded by Gary Hermalyn, Robert Esnard, and Ray Beckerman to observe and commemorate the centennial of the formation of Greater New York. Their stated purpose, which was never carried out, was the sponsorship of public events such as lectures, tours, and commemorations, publications and research in historical subjects, and the preservation of historic records, objects, and places.

Description/Scope and Content

The collection comprises a binder containing the charter and by-laws of the organization, incorporation documents, resolutions, and legal and financial records.

Provenance

The binder in this collection was given to Gary Hermalyn by Ray Beckerman, the Secretary of the Commission, in September 2002, and was subsequently donated to the Society.
