Title
1-03. Introduction: Germany, Poland, My Parents' Background
Description
In this recording, part of a larger video memoir project, lifetime activist and educator Suzanne Ross narrates her family's background. Her father was born to a poor religious Jewish family in Nuremberg, Germany that had migrated from Poland. His mother, Ester Rivke Engelmeier Weber, had rabbis and well-known cantors in her family. Suzanne's mother was born toa more comfortable family, part of the Gere Chasidic clan in Lodz, Poland. Her father was Mordechai Perle and her mother Zisa Borenstein. Both parents died during World War I, when she was six, victims of a typhoid epidemic.
