4-10. Political Work: The Central Park 5, Part 1

Title

4-10. Political Work: The Central Park 5, Part 1

Subject

Description

In this recording, part of a larger video memoir project, lifetime activist and educator Suzanne Ross speaks about her involvement in the campaign to exonerate the Central Park 5.

From Suzanne: "1989 framing of 5 young Black men (one of them Puerto Rican) for the rape of a white woman. A public drama in the form of a legal lynching drawn out, in the psyches of thousands of women, white and Black, racist and outrageous judgments with little or no evidence of these young people’s guilt. I joined the resistance to this lynching through the International Working Women’s Day Committee and played a particular role as a white anti-racist/feminist in defense of the young men."
