Biography

Lester E. Lamb was born on March 21, 1911 to Lester and Jane (Jennie) Malone Lamb. At the time, the Lamb family lived in The Bronx, at 1951 Southern Boulevard. Lester E. Lamb was part of the first graduating class at James Monroe High School in 1928. He went on to become the Senior Vice President of Manufacturers Hanover Trust Company and worked there for 48 years, retiring in 1976. During his professional career, he was active in the New York State Bankers Association and also served on the faculty of Stonier Graduate School of Banking in 1958. He married Claire Behrens Lamb in 1952 and was married to her until his death on August 21, 2002. At the time, the Lambs lived at Lohman Village, The Wartburg, a Lutheran non-profit providing care to older adults.

Description/Scope and Content

The collection consists of photographs and documents from the life of Bronx-born Lester E. Lamb and his relatives.

The collection is organized into the three following series:

1) Documents;

2) Photographs (loose);

3) Scrapbook: Lester E. Lamb and Lamb/Malone family.

Provenance

Materials in this collection were donated to the Society by Claire Lamb, Lester’s wife, in January 2008.
